I review books for The Los Angeles Times and am the author of Friday Was the Bomb: Five Years in the Middle East, which was named an Amazon Best Book of the Month. I've written essays, reviews, and short fiction for The New York Times Magazine, GQ, Harper's, and The Paris Review, among others. I live in Los Angeles and am on faculty at UCLA's Writing Programs.

There was once a mountain, the mountain there was a temple, the temple has three
children. Boss called rogue. Second child is called a kitchen knife. Youngest known
trouble one day trouble disappeared, with her second child to the police boss said,
"I told my rogue with a kitchen knife to trouble.''
