My first book is called Friday Was the Bomb. It's a collection of essays about five years in the Middle East and will be published by Dzanc in May 2014.
I am a contributing editor to The Los Angeles Review of Books and have written essays, fiction, and criticism for Harper's, GQ, The New York Times, The New Republic, Financial Times, and The Paris Review, among others.
In 2013, I was named first runner-up in Ploughshares' annual Emerging Writer contest. For Dzanc's 2013-2014 Nonfiction Award, I will be serving as final judge. I currently teach creative writing at Deep Springs College.
